Army Tanks for Sale

Are you one of those people that dream of owning a piece of history to call your own and would like to own a military vehicle that was actually used in a real war? Or maybe you are a private collector in search of a certain military tank to finally complete your collection; then again maybe you’re just one of those people who have seen one too many war games or movies and thinks it would be really cool to own a tank.

Whatever your reason, it may be possible to make your dream come true because believe it or not, it is actually possible to own such a tank. It might not be as awesome to own one in real life as it is in your dreams since it will have a deactivated cannon but it will probably still be mobile and you will have quite a few Military Fairs, Re-enactor and Living History events that you can look forward to.

Army tanks are sold when the army has a surplus; older tanks or tanks which have been decommissioned. These are sometimes auctioned to the public for the buying pleasure of those who can afford it. If what you want is a brand new tank, that’s possible too because you can buy one just as long as you have the money. Ammunition for tanks are monitored and controlled by the government however, so you won’t be able to purchase any ammo for your tank.

Many people became familiar with tanks as a result of the world wars but they were actually first unveiled by the British navy and sponsored by Sir Winston Churchill who was impressed after seeing a demonstration of what the tank could do. The first tank consisted of the caterpillar tracks, a bullet proof ‘motor-war car’, a Daimler engine for power and two machine guns. A far cry from the big, powerful models we see in action today!

The tank was basically an advanced version of an armored car and early models faced the same obstacle that armored cars did in that they could not cross open trenches but this did not hold the tank back for very long as it was quickly remedied. Early tanks were however, notoriously unreliable and so were as much a hindrance at first, as they were an advantage.

Over time the tank has evolved to become stronger, more powerful and more reliable with far bigger guns; it is definitely not the fastest way to get around but what’s the hurry if you’re driving around in your own tank?

If the thought of owning a tank of your very own fills your heart with excitement, then go ahead and check out a few of the numerous sites online that offer a wide variety of old and new tanks to anyone that wants and can afford them. If you want, you can even go ahead and splurge on one that is amphibious for use on those days when you feel really adventurous.
